Conscience and Ethical Conduct Policy

Preamble
The Nigerian Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) recognizes that conscience, integrity, and national service are the pillars of sustainable industrial development. This Conscience Policy establishes the moral and ethical standards expected of all members, partners, employees, and affiliates of NAMA in line with the values of honesty, fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Purpose of the Policy

• Promote ethical business practices across the Nigerian automotive manufacturing sector.
• Encourage members to act with conscience, responsibility, and patriotism in all dealings.
• Support Nigeria’s industrial growth, job creation, and local content development goals.
• Build public trust in NAMA and its members as key drivers of national development.

Core Principles

• Integrity: Members must demonstrate honesty and fairness in every transaction and commitment.
• Transparency: All dealings, whether financial or operational, must be open, clear, and verifiable.
• Accountability: Each member organization is accountable for its actions and decisions before NAMA and the Nigerian people.
• Equity: Equal opportunity, fair pricing, and nondiscriminatory practices are expected in all engagements.
• National Loyalty: Every decision must align with Nigeria’s industrialization and socio-economic development goals.
• Environmental Stewardship: Members must act as responsible custodians of the environment through sustainable manufacturing.
• Fair Labour: Uphold human rights and dignity in all employment practices.

Ethical Conduct Expectations

All members shall:

• Conduct business in compliance with all Nigerian laws and international best practices.
• Avoid bribery, corruption, and unethical inducements of any kind.
• Ensure that all contracts, tenders, and supply chain activities are executed on merit and transparency.
• Uphold confidentiality and protect sensitive industry information.
• Report any observed unethical practices or breaches through the NAMA Ethics & Compliance Office.

Governance and Oversight

A Conscience and Ethics Committee (CEC) shall oversee adherence to this policy. The CEC will review reported violations, recommend disciplinary action, conduct periodic ethics audits among members, and issue annual compliance certificates. Sanctions for violations may include suspension, delisting, or referral to regulatory authorities.

Reporting and Whistleblowing

NAMA shall maintain a confidential whistleblowing channel for reporting misconduct, unethical practices, or conscience breaches. Reports may be made anonymously, and NAMA will ensure protection from retaliation.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

NAMA is committed to ongoing ethics training, awareness programs, and review of this policy to reflect new developments in governance, technology, and sustainability.

Affirmation

All members, upon registration or renewal, shall sign the NAMA Conscience Declaration Form, affirming their understanding and commitment to uphold this policy.
